granite and marble

granite marble
It's a metamorphic stone, which is formed when sediment crystallizes under great heat or pressure to form hard rock. Marble is not the hardest of these stones, however, making it porous and therefore susceptible to staining. Marble requires some maintenance and will etch and stain easily.

Marble is porous allowing oils and stains to seep into the stone and softer than granite or quartz, allowing scratches and chips. It also is soft enough to allow etching, which simply means that water and acids can leave marks that are barely visible on the surface (usually only seen if looking at the surface from a particular angle)

The good thing about marble is that you can always sand it down or polish it again. With a lot of other materials, once you damage them, you can’t do that.
However, the best way to live with marble countertops may simply be to accept that they will patina over time.

Tips: Marble is a porous and high-maintenance surface. Be prepared to see some scratches. If you don't mind the extra work, they are a beautiful addition.

Taking care of your marble countertops

It is crucial that you take care of your marble countertops. You will need to use a sealer every 6 months to make sure that you can easily wipe spills. Marble can get easily scratched, however, going with a honed finish as opposed to a polished finish can hide them.  Avoid using tough cleaners and abrasives as they will cause damage to your beautiful marble. We suggest natural stone cleaner or simply water and dish soap.

Marble kitchen countertops give your area an elegant look that will never be out of style. The most popular marble is white Carrara and the Calcutta. This is something you would want to use inside your kitchen and bathrooms, tables, jacuzzi, and fireplaces. Best marble countertops near me.
